The Unwanted Heiress

My Rating:  ****

Adriana Lizonby is a sweet innocent from the country who is suddenly thrust on to the London social scene to find a husband after the death of her beloved parents. Her well-meaning but-behind-the-fashion-times aunt has presented Adriana as if she has just come out of the schoolroom and not as the mature (and maybe slightly over-the-hill – at least according to the times) young woman she actually is.  Despite her money not one suitor wants her. Finally, she takes matters into her own hands. A new persona is what’s required. A hairdo that highlights her features and new clothing transform the once homely Adriana into a raving beauty.

Jason Hume, Fourth Earl of Coldedowne is attracted to the new and improved Adriana and sets out to make her his. There’s only one problem Adriana wants Jason as her husband and he wants her as his mistress.

Hurt beyond measure the broken hearted Adriana leaves London to return to her country home. Jason is devastated by her disappearance and quickly realizes he must do everything in his power to win her back.

My thoughts:

I loved the feisty Adriana. She is a strong confident woman who speaks her mind and lives life to the fullest. She will not be treated as second best; not by anyone but especially not the Fourth Earl of Coldedowne. Jason Hume is a devilish rake who is used to having any woman he wants. But he’s finally met his match in the lovely Adriana.

This is an enchanting tale that engages the senses and warms the heart. It has interesting characters and a solid plot.
