Jarrod Connor is a scarred man, physically and emotionally. His whole life changed at the age of ten when his father tried to kill him, his brother, Jake, and mother, Maria, by setting their house on fire.
Jarrod was able to save Jake, but the fire left his face disfigured and he’s had to live with the knowledge of what his father did. He’s spent most of his life running from the past and denying what he wants most; to love and be loved.
Phlox Miller has scars of her own. An explosion at her country home leaves her face and body badly burned. After countless plastic surgeries, Phlox has a new face, one more beautiful than the one she was born with, and she struggles to come to terms with her new self.
This story is about acceptance, not just having others accept you for who you are but self acceptance as well, and love and having the courage to lay it on the line for another as well as learning to love one’s self.
Ms. Gabriel has crafted a sweet, sexy, uplifting story with compelling characters who overcome their emotional wounds to find love. It was a great read and kept me engaged from page one all the way to the end. I loved it!
